Word in the street suggest that Xiaomi is prepping the release of an ultra-affordable LTE-Enabled smartphone in the space of a few weeks. An unannounced device that was found at TEENA today with LTE bands has been linked with rumors of a 4G phone with a price tag of $65.
The phone is basically looks similar to the Redmi 2 phone only with an LTE-capable processor from a little-known chip company called Leadcore (reulting from the last year deal between the two companies), subsidizing the price of the phone to the barest minimum. And now, the product is ready, waiting to be unveiled to the world.
According to the TEENA listing, the purported yet-to-be-released $65 Xiaomi Redmi 2 variant is still having a 4.7″ IPS HD touchscreen, an 8-megapixel camera with 1080p video recording capability and Android 4.4.2 KitKat OS.
The processor is a Leadcore chipset with a 1.6GHz quad-core Cortex-A7 CPU paired with a Mali-T628 graphics card. The smartphone features 1GB of RAM and a 2MP front-facing camera.
It’s not yet clear on when the Chinese tech company will announce this new device or which countries will it be coming to when it finally breaks cover. We’ll keep you updated on that however.
