A couple of days ago a report surfaced revealing a very weird problem that some owners of theGoogle Pixel and Pixel XL have been facing. It has to do with the camera, but unlike the lens flare thing that's probably caused by hardware issues, this one looks like it's 100% software-related. That is, in a way, good news, because it means a fix can be implemented through a software update which should make it go away completely.
What happens for the affected units is that the camera will randomly show pink and purple vertical lines on the photos and then freeze up. Speaking to MobileSyrup, a Google spokesperson had the following to say about this:
The company hasn't revealed what the root cause of the issue is, but there's some correlation between the camera glitching up and freezing and the phone being in an area with poor cellular connectivity. Hopefully Google will be able to quickly fix this problem, since it makes taking non-glitchy photos on the affected handsets incredibly difficult. Some people who've seen this issue have had their Pixels replaced by Google, only for the new units to start doing the exact same thing too.
