Asus Zenfone AR will launch on June 14 as per invitation

The Asus Zenfone AR was first announced back in January at CES in Vegas. That was several months ago and the Tango-enabled phone still isn’t out yet. Late last month, it was reported that the Asus handset would launch in Taiwan in mid-June and the United States’ launch is to follow shortly thereafter.
A media invitation going around confirms the first report. The Zenfone AR will be announced in Taiwan on June 14 and the event will mention two variants, one with 8GB of RAM and the other with 6GB. We can safely assume the variant headed to the US will have 6GB of RAM.
The Asus Zenfone AR has faced delays likely because Tango apps did not make a splash with the Lenovo Phab 2 Pro. It was mentioned that many more Tango apps now run smoothly on the Zenfone AR.
The Zenfone AR is powered by a Snapdragon 821 CPU and features Tango’s tri-camera setup which can detect its position in three dimensional space and use apps designed for it. There’s a 5.7-inch WHD display which enables the phone to be compatible with Google’s Daydream VR platform. Keeping the power chugging along is a 3300mAh battery.
US release of the Zenfone AR is expected later this month with Verizon slated to carry the device in early July. Meanwhile, India could get it as soon as August.
