You can call 2015 the year of optical zoom in smartphones if you like, but it’s pretty clear where these latest phones are heading to. Yesterday, Asus took to the stage at the CES to unveil two smartphones with optical zoom, that wasn’t before Huawei released their Honor 6 Plus with 4x optical zoom.
A new Oppo smartphone was recently approved at TEENA. Dubbed the Oppo U3, the new smartphone features a gigantic 5.9-inch display with 1080p resolution. The device is powered by 2GB of RAM and an unspecified 1.7GHz octa-core core CPU (possibly a MediaTek MT6752 chipset). The phone further features 16GB of storage though there was no mention of a microSD card slot.
The unannounced Oppo U3 is sporting a 13-megapixel camera with 4x optical zoom, according to the TEENA listing. It also packs a 5-megapixel front-facing selfie unit.
On a wider research, we couldn’t ascertain when the U3 will be launched or any details about the pricing, however, we’ll relay that to you once it’s available.
