Samsung Galaxy J1: The Galaxy with a difference

Samuel Enife - 5:50 PM
Just when we thought Samsung would stop churning out more smartphones because the phone maker said it will reduce number of phone models it produces by up to 20 %? we see that we are probably — at least by the way things are moving.
Samsung isn’t planning to stop and it won’t stop. Just yesterday, we discovered the company is still interested in making two different designs of its upcoming Galaxy S6 flagship with one normal and the other having a curved edge. But that’s not all the company is planning.
The Samsung Galaxy J1 is yet another smartphone lineup Samsung is introducing in recent times (Galaxy A and Galaxy E series come to mind). The device looks somehow different, with longer curves at the edges.

However, the most interesting part has to go to the processor. Samsung is said to have used a 64-bit chipset from a small chip maker: a quad-core Marvell PXA1908 CPU running at 1.2GHz. The rest of the phone’s engine is completed by 1GB of RAM and 4GB of storage while a 1,850 power unit lights up the device.
The Galaxy J1 handset is equipped by a 4.3″ WVGA diplay (480 x 800 pixels) and the camera is a 5MP shooter with LED flash and a 2-megapixel sensor at the front. The smartphone runs on Android 4.4 KitKat and features dual SIM and single SIM models as well as an LTE and non LTE variant.
On when the device will be available, we are looking at a January launch date. We also expect the J1 to be available in a number of countries upon release.
