MediaTeK working on a 12 core chipset

Technology is booming. The world is moving fast, very fast. In 2005 (10 years ago), very few had smartphones. Then, the phones had single-core processors and most of these were running at less than 500Hz (about 0.5GHz). Fast-forward to now, the phones we use today, even the so-called midrange smartphones use quad-core CPUs and 1.3GHz seems to be the minimum.
But hey, it’s not even over. It’s far from it. Sometime later this year or early next year, we could start seeing devices with not four or 8 but 12 CPU cores — that’s dodeca-core CPUs. This is going to be possible with the latest technology MediaTek is working on.
The Taiwanese chip maker, according to insiders, is developing 12-core and 10-core CPUs as well. Keep in mind that the major advantage of multiple cores in a processor is to save energy (battery) and resources while being as fast and powerful as possible when required.
If MediaTek finally outs these processors, they will help in improving battery life in smartphones as well as giving more control and power to these devices. Tablets are not left out either. The use of mobile phone-insipired processors in tablets and other mobile devices is very common so this upcoming tech will go a long way in improving these devices.
