Gionee M7 incoming with bezel-less display and dual cameras

Gionee is the latest company joining the trend of edge-to-edge screens. The phone that previously appeared on GFXBench might be the Gionee M7 that was teased at the company’s official Weibo account.

Gionee is collaborating with Ofo, a bike-sharing start-up from Beijing, in launching the M7. The image reveals two bike wheels and their arrangement hints at a dual-camera setup for the Gionee M7.

If the device is the same as the benchmarked one, it might have a 6” screen and MediaTek MT6757CD chipset. The RAM will be 4 GB and storage 64 gigs. We just have to wait for Gionee to announce an official launch date for the phone, so we know for sure.

Mid-ranger Gionee X1 unveiled

Gionee has just announced the X1 smartphone for the Indian market. It will cost 8,999 INR (€119) and will come in Black and Gold colors.

The Gionee X1 has a 5-inch 1280x720px display and runs on a Mediatek MT6737 chipset. 8MP front and 8MP back camera, a 3,000mAh battery, dual-SIM slots and a microSD card slot are also among the highlights of the mid-ranger. There is 2GB of RAM and 16GB of storage.

Gionee P7 updated with ViLTE compatibility

Gionee has started pushing out a new update to its P7 smartphone. As per the official change-log posted on the Chinese company's official India website, the update brings along ViLTE (Video over LTE) compatibility.

In addition, the update includes Urdu language support, a new BeautyPlus application, and ability to easily access favorite apps using Suspend button. Aside from this, Mood Wallpapers, Theme Parks, and improved GStore have been updated, as are apps like UC Browser, Xender, Saavn, and True caller.

Gionee A1 lite unveiled with 20MP selfie shooter, 4,000mAh battery

Chinese manufacturer Gionee has introduced a new member of its A series. Dubbed A1 lite, the mid-ranger is powered by MediaTek MT6753 chipset and sports a 5.3-inch HD display.

RAM is 3GB, while storage is 32GB. The phone features a 13MP main camera and a 20MP front shooter. It runs Android 7.0 Nougat out of the box (with Amigo 4.0 UI on top). A large, 4,000mAh battery powers the whole setup.

The handset will be available to pre-order starting June 18. It's expected to carry a price tag of NPR 26,999 (around $260). No word on which other markets (if any) will get it.

Gionee announces trio of smartphones - S10, S10B and S10C

Gionee just unwrapped its new trio of S-line phones. The higher-end Gionee S10, the middle-child S10B and the entry level S10C.

The Gionee S10 is the best of the bunch. Its highlight are the four cameras - two at the front and two more at the back. The main snappers have 16MP/8MP sensors and the selfies are taken by a 20MP/8MP setup. The S10 has a 5.5" 1080p LCD with 2.5D curved glass, a MediaTek Helio P25 chipset with octa-core processor and 6GB of RAM.

And finally the more modest, specs-wise, Gionee S10C. It only has a single 13MP rear camera and 16MP front-facing camera. Swapping MediaTek for Qualcomm it uses a Snapdragon 427 chip with Adreno 308 GPU and 4GB of RAM.

The battery on board the Gionee S10C is a 3,100mAh.

All three smartphones have hybrid slots that allow either Dual SIM or microSD storage expansion, all three have fingerprint scanners and all three run Amigo OS on top of Android 7.0 Nougat.

The Gionee S10 will come in Cherry Gold, Dark Black, Indigo Blue and Primrose Green for CNY 2,599 (€ 338/£ 295/$ 378/RS 24,430) and will be available in China starting June 9. The Gionee S10B is also scheduled for a June 9 China release and it will cost CNY 2199 (€ 286/£ 249/$ 320/RS 20,670). The Gionee S10C is going on sale today for CNY 1,599 (€ 208/£ 181/$ 233/RS 15,030).

Gionee M6S Plus is official with more RAM and twice the storage

Right on schedule, Gionee is adding a big phone to its lineup - the M6S Plus.

Specs-wise it doesn't drastically differ from its predecessor Gionee M6 Plus with matching 6.0 AMOLED of 1080p resolution and huge 6,020mAh battery.

The Gionee M6S Plus has 6GB of RAM (the M6 Plus has 4GB) and adds a 256GB storage option (the older phone topped out at 128GB built-in). Add the microSD card slot to the mix and you're looking at ludicrous mobile storage numbers.

To round off the Gionee M6S Plus here are the rest of the specs - a Snapdragon 653 chip, 8MP selfie snapper and a 12MP main camera with f/1.9 aperture which replaces the 16MP f/1.8 unit of the M6 Plus.

Gionee confirms “selfie-centric” A1 and A1 Plus reveal at MWC

Gionee has officially confirmed that it will launch the Gionee A1 and Gionee A1 Plus smartphones at the Mobile World Congress in 2017. The devices promises excellent battery life, “a sensational” selfie camera and a dual cameras on the back. The company talks so much about the frontal so we prefer not to name any of them a “main” one.

The Gionee A1 and A1 Plus will offer a few nice selfie features - you will be able to tinker with the lighting effects of the front camera. Gionee also said the duo will come with ultrafast charging via dual charging chips (probably similar to VOOC and Dash Charge) and excellent power-saving system.

Gionee A1 now spotted in benchmark listing

Less than a couple of weeks after the Gionee A1 leaked in live images, the device has been spotted in benchmark listings. The Geekbench listing for the handset reveals octa-core processor, 4GB RAM, and Android 7.0 Nougat.

These, if you compare, are inline with the specs that have leaked earlier. Other rumored key specs of the phone include 5.5-inch 1080p touchscreen, 64GB storage, 13MP/16MP camera combo, rear mounted fingerprint sensor, and a large 4,010mAh battery with support for 18W fast charging.

The Gionee A1 (along with as a Plus variant of the phone) is expected to be made official at the upcoming Mobile World Congress (MWC).

Chinese smartphone manufacturer Gionee has launched a new smartphone. Dubbed Steel 2, the device is powered by MediaTek's MT6737 chipset with quad-core processor, and sports a 5-inch HD display.

A new Gionee smartphone has been certified by the Chinese telecommunication authority TENAA. The Gionee F106, the TENAA listing reveals, is powered by an SoC with quad-core 1.5GHz processor, and sports a 4.99-inch HD display.

RAM is 2GB, while internal memory is 16GB, and is further expandable via a microSD card slot. The device features an 8MP rear camera and a 5MP front unit. Measuring 144×70.8×8.4mm and weighing in at 150.2g, the phone runs Android 6.0 Marshmallow, and packs in a 2,660mAh battery.

Gionee outs first teaser for its 7,000mAh battery totting M2017 smartphone

Gionee has outed the first teaser image for its M2017 smartphone that recently cleared TENAA. While the teaser majorly focuses on Chinese actress-director couple Xu Fan and Feng Xiaogang, the latter is shown holding a phone with design similar to the M2017.

The selling point of the M2017 is the mammoth 7,000mAh battery. In addition, the device also has 6GB RAM and 128GB storage. Other key specs revealed by TENAA include octa-core 1.96GHz processor, 5.7-inch QHD display, an 12MP + 13MP dual rear camera setup and an 8MP front shooter.

Measuring 155.2×77.6×10.65mm and weighing in at 230g, the phone runs Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow. There's currently no information on the device's pricing and availability, although given that the company has now officially started teasing the handset, we hope to hear more about in days to come.

Gionee S9 announced: 5.5 inches, P10 chip, dual camera, $360

As planned, the Gionee S9 was made official today in China. Hard to call flagship-grade, the phablet packs some interesting hardware nonetheless.

The specsheet starts with a 5.5-inch FullHD display and goes on to include a Mediatek P10 chipset - both carried over from the S8. Not entirely though - while the display numbers are the same, the S9 makes a switch from AMOLED to LCD. RAM and storage have been kept at 4GB and 64GB respectively.

Another area where the S9 deviates from its predecessor is the imaging department - the S9 joins the dual camera bandwagon. On its back there is a 13MP/5MP pair with a focus on producing depth of field effects. Meanwhile, selfies are taken care of by another 13MP cam.

The Gionee S9 measures 154.2 x 76.4 x 7.4 mm and weighs 168g - so it is physically different from the S8. The 20g of added weight doesn't mean more battery though - capacity is still 3,000mAh.

The Gionee S9 is listed for pre-order in China at CNY 2,499 ($364). It'll be available for purchase 10 days from now, on November 25.

Gionee S9 will have a front-facing flash, new teaser and live images show up

Gionee is going to announce the S9 on November 15, as revealed not long ago through a teaser image. The Chinese company has now outed another teaser for the upcoming S9, and this one tells us that the phone will come with a front-facing LED flash - to make the selfies you take in the dark that much better.

Aside from the teaser, today two live images showing the Gionee S9 have been leaked, and you can see them below. The S9 features a full metal design, with a dual rear camera setup on the back, and a physical Home button on the front which probably doubles as a fingerprint scanner.

Gionee S9 set to be unveiled next week

Gionee has announced that the S9, which - along with the S9T - was recently spotted on TENAA, will be unveiled next week (November 15 to be precise). The announcement came in the form of a teaser image that also confirmed dual rear-camera setup on the phone.

The teaser doesn't contain any mention of the Gionee S9T, so it's not yet confirmed whether the variant will also be made official on November 15, but it'd be reasonable to assume so. The S9T, in case you aren't aware, differs from the standard S9 in terms of processor, weight, and color options.

Some of the key specs of the Gionee S9 and S9T include octa-core chipset, 5.5-inch full HD display, 4GB RAM, 64GB storage, dual rear cameras, Android 6.0, and a 3,000mAh battery. For what it's worth, the Gionee S9 has also been spotted on AnTuTu.

Yesterday there was a TENAA listing of two unannounced Gionee smartphones - the S9 and S9T with the only difference between the two being the higher processor clock speed of the T model(2.0GHz vs 1.8GHz).

Today an AnTuTu screenshot which allegedly comes from the Gionee S9 confirms the specs we saw from the TENAA leak. The Gionee S9 is powered by a MediaTek Helio P10 chipset with eight cores, a 1920 x 1080px display, a 13MP+5MP camera duo on the back, Android 6.0, 4GB of RAM and 64GB of built-in storage.

The rest of the specs we've heard about are a 5.5-inch display size, 13MP front-facing camera, 3,000mAh batteries, 154.2 × 76.4 × 7.4mm dimensions and 166.5g of weight for the Gionee S9 and 200.8g for the Gionee S9T, respectively.

There's still no word on the eventual availability of the Gionee S9 and S9T but the S8 was announced at this year's Mobile World Congress in February so we could be looking at a MWC unveil in the beginning of 2017.

While the S9 is powered by an octa-core 1.8GHz CPU, the S9T packs in an octa-core 2.0GHz processor. Other key specs are same: 5.5-inch full HD display, 4GB RAM, 64GB storage, dual rear cameras (S9's listing mentions 13MP + 5MP rear unit and 13MP front unit). The duo is powered by Android 6.0 and draw their juice from 3,000mAh batteries.

The other difference between the two is their weight - while the S9 weighs in at 166.5g, the S9T is on the heavier side with 200.8g weight. Both, however, have same dimensions: 154.2 × 76.4 × 7.4mm, so one of those seems to be a mistake. The final difference the listings reveal is the color options - gold for the S9 (although included images reveal silver color), and black for the S9T.
