New LeEco smartphone gets benchmarked with Android 7.1.2 and Helio X20 SoC

While we wait for that oft-leaked Le X850 handset to become official, LeEco has started teasing a new smartphone yesterday, saying that it wants to strike a good balance between performance and battery life with it. This teaser may in fact refer to the Le X850, but it could also be about an entirely new phone.

That's because an oddly named "LeMobile XiubaleR" device was spotted in the Geekbench database today. As usual, the benchmark listing gives us an idea of the handset's specs, but Geekbench isn't as comprehensive in this regard as GFXBench, for example, so all we get is the chipset, amount of RAM, and Android version on board.

That's still plenty for us to realize that this definitely isn't the Le X850 under another name. While that model was supposedly coming with the Snapdragon 821 in tow, the "XiubaleR" is powered by MediaTek's Helio X20 (MT6797), which has a deca-core CPU with two Cortex-A53 clusters and one Cortex-A72 cluster. This is paired with 3GB of RAM, and surprisingly the prototype already runs Android 7.1.2 - a version of the OS that's still in beta for devices supported by Google.

The Android version in use here gives away the fact that this is likely not launching anytime soon, but who knows - maybe LeEco wants to be the first handset maker to release a device running Android 7.1.2 out of the box.

Next LeEco flagship smartphone purportedly leaks showing curved display

Despite its recent financial troubles, it looks like LeEco is still working on a new top of the line smartphone. The Chinese company is said to outfit this upcoming device with Qualcomm's Snapdragon 835 chipset, leaving absolutely no doubt about its high-end aspirations.

The two images you can see below have surfaced in China today and they are claimed to depict this new LeEco handset. If that's true (and that's a big "if"), then it's obvious that it will come with a dual-curved touchscreen.

It also seems to be very thin, and we can spot a USB Type-C port on the bottom next to a speaker grille, but there's no 3.5mm headset jack to be seen. Of course that could be placed on the top, but the rumor accompanying the pictures says LeEco won't be bringing the analog jack back in this phone.

The new LeEco flagship is reportedly going to arrive in April with 6GB of RAM and 256GB of storage. Other specs haven't been leaked yet, but if we are indeed just a few weeks away from its launch we expect to hear much more about it soon.

Dual-camera LeEco LEX656 and LEX659 clear TENAA

A couple of new LeEco smartphones - dubbed LEX656 and LEX659 - have been certified by the Chinese telecommunication authority TENAA. The LEX656 is powered by a chipset with deca-core 2.3GHz CPU, and sports a 5.5-inch full HD display.

RAM is 4GB, while internal memory is 32GB. The camera department is handled by a 13MP dual-camera setup on the back, and an 8MP front shooter. Measuring 152.4 x 75.1 x 7.5mm and weighing in at 168g, the phone runs Android 6.0 Marshmallow out of the box.

There's also a fingerprint sensor on the back. A 3,900mAh battery is there to keep the lights on. Color options for the device include gold, red, silver, white, and gray.

The LEX659 is same as the LEX656 as far as key specs and design are concerned. In fact, reports say the LEX656 is the LeEco Le 2s, and the LEX659 is the dual-SIM variant of the phone.

LeEco X10 gets benchmarked, will have dual cameras on the front and the back

Back in November China's TENAA certified the upcoming LeEco Le X850 for sale in the country, though it still hasn't launched. And now it looks like the same handset (or a slightly different version of it) was put through the paces of GFXBench, which as usual has resulted in a pretty complete listing of its specs on the benchmark's website.

The phone's model number is said to be X85x, and the second "x" could obviously stand for "0". Then again, GFXBench also calls it X10 as if that may be its name, so it's unclear what's going on here. Finally note that there are some small differences between the specs outed by TENAA for the X850 and what GFXBench lists for the X10/X85x.

The Chinese regulatory authority spoke of a device with a 5.7-inch QHD screen, Snapdragon 821 chipset, 4GB of RAM, 64GB of storage, dual 13 MP rear cameras, and a 16 MP selfie snapper.

GFXBench says it has a 5.5-inch QHD display, the Snapdragon 820 at the helm, 4 or 6GB of RAM, 32 or 64GB of storage, a 12 MP + 12 MP dual rear camera setup (with 4K video recording), and surprisingly a 16 MP + 16 MP dual front camera arrangement too. Four camera sensors on one device are apparently becoming mainstream this year.

There's still no telling when the LeEco X850 / X10 / X85x will finally be outed, but hopefully that will happen soon. And with MWC practically right around the corner, it could be that LeEco is waiting for that particular setting for its grand unveiling.

New LeEco Le Pro3 update brings December security patch, other changes

The LeEco Le Pro3 has started receiving a new update. Arriving as firmware version EUI 5.8.020S and weighing in at around 345MB, the update brings along Android security fixes for the month of December.

Several other changes are included as well. For example, the GMS package has been updated for better stability and security and Bluetooth discovery time has been reduced to 20sec in order to save resources. In addition, there are also changes related to launcher, messaging, camera, app permissions, and more.

LeEco LEX622 spotted on Geekbench with Helio X20 SoC, 3GB RAM

A new LeEco phone has been spotted in benchmark listings. Listed on Geekbench, the LEX622 is powered by Mediatek's Helio X20 chipset with deca-core processor and 3GB of RAM.

The listing also reveals that the LEX622 runs Android Marshmallow version 6.0. No other key specs are revealed and we are still in the dark regarding availability/pricing. Needless to say, we'll keep you updated as and when we hear more about the device.

LeEco and Coolpad to release new Cool smartphone - Snapdragon 821 SoC and 6GB RAM

After the Cool 1 Dual, LeEco and Coolpad have again come together for a new smartphone, and this time it's a flagship device. Dubbed Cool, the phone has already cleared TENAA, revealing some of its key specs.

The handset is powered by Snapdragon 821 chipset and sports a 5.5-inch full HD display.

RAM options include 4GB and 6GB, while storage options are 32GB, 64GB, and 128GB. In terms of camera, the Cool features a 16MP rear unit and an 8MP front shooter.

It runs Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow, and packs in a large 4,000mAh battery. Color options include gold, white, silver, blue, and black. There's currently no information available on the device's price and availability.

LeEco Le X850 with Snapdragon 821 SoC, QHD display, and 16MP front camera clears TENAA

A new LeEco phone has been certified by Chinese telecommunication authority TENAA. Listed as LeEco X850, the device is powered by Snapdragon 821 chipset and sports a 5.7-inch, QHD display.

RAM is 4GB, while internal memory is 64GB. In terms of camera, the phone features a dual rear-camera setup of 13MP and a 16MP front shooter. A large 3,900mAh battery is there to keep the lights on.

Weighing in at 185g and having a thickness of 7.99mm, the phone comes in coffee gray and gold charm color options. Pricing and availability information is currently unknown.

LeEco US lineup leaks ahead of October 19 launch

LeEco is quite excited about launching the brand in the US. So much so, that some product pages and placeholders are live on their website right now. It looks like the switch was flipped too early when updating the online store.

Android Police first found the lineup, which includes two Android smartphones and four Android TVs. The two smartphones in question are the Le Max2 and the Le S3, which will run for $349 and $299, respectively. There are a couple of discounts listed on the product pages, but they aren’t clear just yet, so you can check them out yourself if you’d like to get an idea of what they’ll be going for.

The Le Max2 is powered by a Snapdragon 820 CPU paired with 6GB of RAM. There’s a rear-mounted fingerprint scanner that sits just under a 21MP camera. It comes with Marhsmallow 6.0 out of the box and runs LeEco’s eui (Ecosystem User Interface) out of the box. Powering the device is a 3,100 mAh power cell.

Moving on to the LeEco Le S3, it features identical software and UI but runs on a Snapdragon 652 CPU with 3GB of “Low profile” RAM, not sure what that means for a smartphone, but the description reads “Together, they provide the power and speed to perform tasks no normal smartphone would attempt – like playing 3D games and watching videos simultaneously.”

Other specs for the Le S3 include a 5.5 inch 1080p display, 16MP main camera with 4K recording capabilities, as well a rear-mounted fingerprint scanner and 3,000 mAh battery. Both smartphones are compatible with Qualcomm’s Quick Charge 3.0.

As for TVs, it looks like LeEco is going to sell self-branded TV’s even though the company just acquired Vizio.

Only one TV’s link works while the rest have been taken down. The first model listed above is the LeEco Super X43 Pro, which features: 120Hz (60fps) playback, HDR support, 16GB (or more) of internal storage, 3GB (or more) of RAM, an ambient rear light sensor, Bluetooth 4.1 audio, and finally, Wi-Fi ac dual-band support. The TV itself is quite slim and minimally designed. The 43 inch model is just over 1” thick.

LeEco's Le Pro 3 powerhouse flagship is now official

There has been quite a bit of fuss surrounding the LeEco Le Pro 3 these past few months. After sneaking a quick peek of the device in September and then coming across it on Geekbench yesterday, now its time to finally see it in full. Today LeEco officially unwrapped its new flagship and its specs do mostly live up to the original hype.

The "mostly" part refers to a couple of prevailing rumors that fueled pre-release excitement. One is having 8GB of RAM on board and the other has to do with a promised battery capacity of 5000 mAh. Neither of these became reality in today's release, but there is still the distinct possibility of a higher-end 256GB storage model yet to come.

But we can also safely look past these two details and what we are left with is still a really powerful handset. It has a 5.5-inch, 1080p IPS LCD panel at its disposal, with a stylish 2.5D glass finish on top.

Underneath it is Qualcomm's new Snapdragon 821 SoC - the overclocked version with a maximum clock of 2.35GHz on its CPU and 653 MHz on the Adreno 530 GPU.

The RAM configurations still go up to 6GB and the list of available models includes:

• 4GB RAM + 32GB ROM
• 4GB RAM + 64GB ROM
• 6GB RAM + 64GB ROM
• 6GB RAM + 128GB ROM

The camera setup includes a 16MP main shooter, with an advertised 0.1 second PDAF focus speed and a few proprietary features like: Increased Sharpness, Intelligent Beauty Mode, Gender Recognition and others. On the front, there are 8MP at your disposal.

The Le Pro 3 is powered by a 4070mAh, which although still a far cry from 5000 mAh, is impressive nontheless, especially in a 7.5mm thick body.

The phone also supports 24W QuickCharge 2.0, which LeEco is confident can get you from zero to 50% in 30 minutes (impressive for a 4 thousand amp battery).

Speaking of the phone's body, it has a premium all-metal built with a brushed finish. In fact, the manufacturer claims a 98% metal content for the devices shell.

The front has a trio of capacitive buttons, the middle one shaped like the LeEco logo and complete with a "breathing light" feature.

On the back, there is a fingerprint reader and not much else, besides an edged logo. The Le Pro 3 uses a USB Type-C connector and doesn't really have another one. There is no 3.5mm jack, but before you assume some Apple plagiarism is in play, we'll remind you that the Le Max 2 and Le 2also rely on the USB CDLA standard for audio since before the iPhone 7 was announced.

Other details worth noting include dual SIM support and dual Wi-Fi MIMO antennas for a maximum transfer speed of 866 Mbps. 4G LTE is pretty fast as well with 3x CA, adding up to around 600 Mbps.

The Le Pro 3 also has two speakers and runs on the Marshmallow-based EUI 5.8.

Currently color options include Silver, Gray, Rose Gold and Gold.

Pricing is as follows:

• 4GB RAM + 32GB - CNY 1799 ($270)
• 6GB RAM + 64GB - CNY 1999 ($300)
• 4GB RAM + 64GB - CNY 2499 ($375)
• 6GB RAM + 128GB - CNY 2999 ($450)

The latter are special "Zhang Yimou" Edition. The edition named after the famed Chinese film director will be themed after the upcoming movie 'Great Wall', starring Matt Damon. The phone will come with a custom "Great Wall" theme and wallpaper, an exclusive access to a behind-the-scenes video about the movie, a signature Great Wall leather flip case and a movie-themed retail box.

Pre-orders are live now, but there is no info on availability. We will definitely be looking forward to learning more about that.

LeEco Le Pro 3 live images leak ahead of September 21 unveiling

Next week, on September 21, LeEco will announce its latest flagship smartphone, the Pro 3. The Chinese company has been teasing the device quite a bit recently, including by bashing Apple on certain occasions. Suffice to say, it's feeling pretty confident in its next handset.

While we've had quite a few leaks about the Pro 3's specs so far, we haven't seen it in live images. Well, until now. A Chinese actor has gotten hold of a unit, and decided to share a couple of photos of it on Weibo, China's Twitter equivalent.

Normally you might be inclined to take such leaks with a grain of salt, and understandably so. But that's not necessary in this case, because LeEco's official Weibo account reblogged the actor's posting, thus in effect confirming that the device in the shots is the real deal. The company says "see you next week" for the full outing of the "true flagship". So that settles it then, this is the Le Pro 3.

You can see it's yet another full metal body phone, and its overall design is pretty similar to past LeEco offerings. There's a fingerprint scanner on the back underneath the camera, a camera hump, and visible antenna lines, while the power and volume buttons are all on the right side.

According to past leaks, the Le Pro 3 will have two hardware versions, both powered by Qualcomm's Snapdragon 821 chipset. One will come with a 5.5-inch 1080p touchscreen, a 16 MP rear camera, an 8 MP selfie shooter, 6GB of RAM, 64GB of storage, and a 4,070 mAh battery. This is the model pictured today.

LeEco teaser takes dig at new iPhones over lack of fast charging

LeEco (formerly LeTV) has outed another teaser for their September 21 event, once again taking a dig at the new iPhones - this time seemingly over the lack of fast charging technology.

In case you missed, this is not the first time they've taken jabs at the iPhone 7 - one of their earlier teasers (shown below) had mocked the battery life of the new Apple phones.

The Chinese company is expected to unveil the LeEco Pro 3 at the upcoming event. Specs-wise, the phone - according to the rumors and leakswe've seen so far - is powered by Snapdragon 821 chipset.

It'll have two variants. The higher-end model will have 5.7-inch QHD display, 8GB/256GB memory configuration, 13MP dual rear camera, 16MP front camera, and a mammoth 5,000mAh battery.

The lower-end variant, on the other hand will come with a 5.5-inch full HD display, 6GB/128GB memory configuration, 16MP/8MP camera combo, and a comparatively smaller 4,070mAh battery.

LeEco Le 2S Pro allegedly passes through AnTuTu

LeEco really seems to have put its ambitions and efforts on high gear lately and is thus now a frequent guest at the rumor mill. Lately, the excitement has been revolving around the LeEco Le 2s - the alleged successor to the only four moth or so old Le 2. The manufacturer is promising nothing short of a benchmark-breaker this time around and evidence seems to be backing up said claim with every passing day.

One of the many attractions on the handset's suggested specs sheet is a Qualcomm Snapdragon 821 SoC. The upgraded version of the top-dog 820 didn't make an appearance on theSamsung Galaxy Note7, as many hoped and since its unveiling in July is yet to actually make a notable appearance in handsets on the end user market. (Perhaps with the exception of the Asus Zenfone 3 Deluxe)

Today, however, brings about some extra proof that the LeEco Le 2S and more specifically its higher-tier Pro version will utilize said chip. It comes in the form of an AnTuTu benchmark score that shows a whopping 157,897 points. If the source is to believed whatever is powering the smartphone indeed punches a bit above the Snapdragon 820.

As for other info on the mysterious flagship, previous rumors also hint at two versions. The basic one equipped with a Snapdragon 820 and 4GB of RAM, while the latter presumably attempting to break another threshold by using8GB of RAM. Design-wise, the handset also appears to be impressive, all metal and employing a double-curved display design with QHD resolution in the PRO and a simpler 1080p, 2.5D, 5.5-inch one on the basic.

LeEco Le 2s (or Le 2s Pro) allegedly portrayed showing different design

Ahead of its rumored introduction in early September, the next LeEco smartphone has allegedly been photographed in the wild somewhere. The device, which could be called Le 2s or Le 2s Pro, comes with a standard full metal design, which is quite different from what a purported back casing for it showed us a few days ago.

In these new images supposedly depicting the Le 2s, gone are the iPhone 7-like antenna bands. In their place are just your average antenna lines cutting through the phone's back. Since there's some confusion now as to the name of this handset, we assume it's possible that LeEco will launch two models next month, the Le 2s and Le 2s Pro - and they could have different designs.

If this pans out, then one of those phones will come with 8GB of RAM, according to some reports. The device pictured in these images is said to sport the model number X720, and that's handy because the X720 has been caught in several benchmark databases already.

Thus, we know at least one hardware version for it will come with a 5.5-inch 1080p touchscreen, the Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 or 821 SoC, 4GB of RAM, and 32GB of storage. Additionally, it should get a 16 MP main camera and an 8 MP selfie shooter. It's expected to run Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow underneath LeEco's EUI.

LeEco Le 2s back panel leaks

According to recent rumors out of China, LeEco is going to announce a new high-end smartphone in early September. This will be called Le 2s and we've already seen a couple of pictures allegedly showing a part of its front. So now it's time to check out the phone's back, of course.

The images below have been outed today and they are said to depict the handset's back panel (and a black color version that isn't a common occurrence in LeEco's portfolio). The device will come with a full metal build, and you can easily spot the cutouts for the camera, the LED flash underneath it, as well as a fingerprint scanner below that.

The second image reveals an interesting design detail - an antenna band design that's very, very reminiscent of the one that Apple's long been rumored to employ for its upcoming iPhone 7 andiPhone 7 Plus. So it looks like that outline already has some fans in China.

The LeEco Le 2s should be launched in a few different hardware versions. The top of the line model will allegedly come with the Qualcomm Snapdragon 821 chipset and a whopping 8GB of RAM. Lower-cost variants will have a 5.5-inch 1080p touchscreen, the Snapdragon 820, 4GB of RAM, 32GB of storage, a 16 MP rear camera, and an 8 MP selfie shooter.

The cameras may be the same in the most expensive iteration, but we assume we'll see more built-in storage and perhaps even a higher-res display. The Le 2s will run Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow underneath LeEco's own EUI. It's expected to have a big battery, which is speculated to be around 5,000 mAh.
