The Meizu 15 Plus has been a regular at the rumor mill since December last year, and even posed for some live shots a couple of weeks ago. In today's installment of the saga of pre-announcement leaks, we're treated to a few renders of the phone with some glass screen protectors meant to cover its dual-curved screen.

Screen protector manufacturers aren't ones to care for specs as long as they have the cutouts right, so no additional info on hardware comes from these images. That said, the renders do confirm a design that features minimal bezels.

It remains unclear how Meizu will go about fingerprint recognition as there's no room on the front for a sensor, and those live images we mentioned didn't show a sensor on the back either. If vivo is doing under-display fingerprint sensors, maybe Meizu can too. The 10-LED flash seems safe to remain a Meizu-exclusive, though.

Meizu 15 Plus live images leave nothing to the imagination

Meizu is planning to commemorate its 15 years of operation with an anniversary phone, called Meizu 15 Plus. We’ve already seen plenty of leaks, but now the phone arrived in its first live images. The phone will come with non-existent bezels on three sides and a tiny one on the top to make room for the earpiece and the front camera.

The back panel of the Meizu 15 Plus is occupied with a dual-cam setup and a 10-LED flash, already seen in the Meizu Pro 6 Plus. Interestingly enough, there is no side-mounted fingerprint scanner like the one in the Meizu M6s, nor is there any sensor on the front or back.

The Chinese company may incorporate an under-display solution, or more likely will emphasize on Face Unlock that became popular once again after Apple implemented it in the iPhone X.

Specs of the anniversary phone are scarce, but the price tag is rumored to be CNY2,999 for a vanilla Meizu 15 and CNY3,499 for the Meizu 15 Plus (between $450 and $530).

Meizu M6s design and specs leak ahead of launch

January 17 is the launch date of the new Meizu M6s, but specs and promo materials leaked on the Chinese social network Weibo revealing almost everything there is to know about it. The new phone will be the first Meizu handset with 18:9 screen and will have a fingerprint scanner on its side. The M6s will arrive with a 14nm Exynos 7872 chipset.

The back will keep the minimalist style already seen in the Meizu M6 - one 16 MP camera, LED flash and nothing else. The front will be mostly occupied by a 5.7” screen with HD+ resolution (1440 x 720 pixels). There will also be a selfie snapper with 8 MP sensor.

The new Exynos chipset will have hexa-core CPU with two of them being Cortex-A73, clocked at 2.0 GHz for performance and four more Cortex-A53 at 1.6 GHz for power efficiency. The GPU is Mali-G71 MP3. The RAM will be 3 GB, coupled with either 32 GB or 64 GB storage.

The specs sheet also reveal Flyme OS, based on Android 7.0 Nougat. The battery will have 3,000 mAh capacity. We are looking forward to the official announcement when the rest of the specs will be unveiled, along with pricing and availability details.

Meizu M6s gets certified by TENAA with 18:9 screen and side-mounted fingerprint scanner

On January 17, Meizu will unveil its latest smartphone, the M6s. Incidentally, this will be the first model to bear the new mblu brand, at least in China, where the Blue Charm line got spun off into its own division. The same phone will thus also be called mblu S6, depending on market.

The M6s has just received the full certification treatment from TENAA, the relevant Chinese authority. As usual, this means we have some pictures of it to look at, and its specs have been outed as well - though we already knew those from a past benchmark run.

Meizu's first handset to sport an 18:9 touchscreen will be a mid-ranger as its branding implies. It has a 5.7-inch 1,440x720 display, and is powered by Samsung's Exynos 7872 SoC, with a Mali-G71 CPU. You get 3GB of RAM and 32GB of storage, and a 3,000 mAh battery with support for 18W fast charging.

The Meizu M6s interestingly has its fingerprint sensor on the right side, under the power button. From the front it looks quite similar to Xiaomi's Redmi 5, which has identical specs for its screen. The M6s should also be priced similarly, at around CNY 1,000 (that's $154 or €127 at the current exchange rates).

New Meizu with 18:9 screen arriving on January 4

Meizu announced January 4 as the official launch date of its new phone. It is most likely the Meizu M6S, which will go by as Blue Charm S in China.

The phone will have a tall display with an 18:9 ratio and will be the first device without any physical home button on the front.

The M6S/Blue Charm S will most likely come with a fingerprint scanner on the right side, below the power button. It will be the first of six new phones that will be introduced in the first half of 2018.

According to a TENAA listing, the new phone will have 5.7” display and a 2930 mAh battery. It is expected to have a Samsung Exynos chipset, with final confirmation happening on Thursday at the launch.

Alleged Meizu M6s clears TENAA

The Meizu M6s has already been the subject of several leaks and rumors and now it appears the device has been certified by China's TENAA as well. A listing alleged to be of the device (model number M172C) reveals 5.7-inch display and a 2,930mAh battery.

The 152x72.54x8.0mm figures should be the device's measurements. Sadly, that's all what the listing reveals, and the agency didn't publish any images for the handset as well. Other rumored specs include MT6793 SoC, 3GB/32GB memory config, and 13MP/5MP camera combo.

Meizu M6 arrives with octa-core CPU, 5.2-inch display

As scheduled, the Meizu M6 went official today. The device is powered by Mediatek MT6750 SoC with octa-core 1.5Ghz processor and sports a 5.2-inch HD display. RAM options include 2GB and 3GB, while storage options are 16GB and 32GB.

The M6 features a 13MP camera on the rear and an 8MP shooter at the front. It runs Android 7.0 Nougat with Flyme 6.0 UI on top, and packs in a 3,070mAh battery.

The handset measures 148.2x72.8x8.3mm and weighs in at 143g. There's also a fingerprint sensor on the front, capable of unlocking in 0.2s. Color options include Moonlight Silver, Champagne Gold, Matte Black, and Electric Light Blue.

The handset carries a starting price tag of CNY 699 - just $105. The phone will go on sale September 25, and pre-bookings have already begun. No information on when it will be available outside of China.

Meizu M6 spotted in the wild: specs fail to impress

The Meizu M6 Note was unveiled in late August, now a smaller version has been spotted. The Meizu M6 has a 5.2” screen with 720p screen, according to a photo showing the device running CPU-Z.

The resolution downgrade is disappointing, the chipset doesn’t improve things. The well-rounded Snapdragon 625 has been swapped for a MediaTek MT6750 – an old 28nm part with eight Cortex-A53 cores and a Mali-T860 GPU.

The memory survived unscathed with 3GB of RAM and 32GB storage (of which 25GB is available to the user). The M6 Note has a 4GB/64GB version too, but this is just one sample of the Meizu M6 and we don’t know the full story.

The whole thing seems rather close to the Meizu M5s, raising further questions if the M6 spec sheet is enough for a viable product.

Meizu M6 Note to come with both Snapdragon and MediaTek chipsets

The Meizu M6 Note flaunted its Snapdragon 625chipset in front of Geekbench yesterday, but earlier rumors said it will have a Helio P25 chipset. Well, a new leak suggests that it will have both.

The base version uses the MediaTek chip paired with 3GB of RAM and 32GB storage. Another version swaps out the P25 for Snapdragon 625 and keeps the memory configuration. The top version ups the RAM to 4GB and doubles the storage to 64GB. That is the one we saw yesterday.

The Meizu M6 Note will launch tomorrow and will bring dual camera goodness, plus a 5.5” 1080p screen, Android Nougat and (allegedly) a 4,000mAh battery.

Meizu M6 Note to come with dual camera, quad LED flash

The Meizu M6 Note is due to be announced on August 23, and you might miss it on that day with the Galaxy Note8 set to go official then. You should probably look out of the M6 Note, however, as it will apparently come with its own dual camera, much like the Note8, but certainly for a lower price.

A Meizu M6 Note unit with the back cover removed has been photographed revealing the two camera modules, one above the other along the central axis of the phone. Further to the top, we see a quad LED flash, not unlike the one on the existing Meizu E2.

The battery is also exposed, but since we aren't living in the CSI universe, we can't enhance the photo enough to see the capacity. No need either, as an earlier spec leak revealed that to be 4,000mAh like on the M5 Note.

For more details on what exactly type of dual camera the M6 Note's is going to be, we'll still have to way 11 more days.

Meizu M6 Note specs and release date leak

The Helio P25 is the current SoC inside the flagship Meizu Pro 7 and we expect the M6 Note to offer faster and more power-efficient performance than the M5 Note. It is paired with octa-core CPU and Mali-T880 GPU.

There will be a 5.5” LCD screen with Full HD resolution, nothing out of the ordinary here. The memory combo might be 3 GB RAM + 32 GB storage or a more expensive version that would arrive with 4 gigs of RAM and 64 more for all your data. The battery is expected to have 4,000 mAh capacity.

When announced, the phone should cost CNY1,599 or about $240.

Meizu Pro 7 Plus teardown: to reach the secondary screen, remove the main screen

The Meizu Pro 7 Plus is cool, but it has two screens that might break and need replacing. How hard could it be? Well, someone took the time to take one apart, so we can find out!

The front seems to come off easily enough, though you need to watch out for the ribbon cable for the main Super AMOLED screen and the one for the mTouch fingerprint reader. The motherboard below is C-shaped, surrounding the 3,500mAh battery from three sides.

Plunging deeper, you’ll have to pop off the connector for the secondary screen, which is accessible from the front. The motherboard can come off now, but there’s still some way to go before we reach the rear screen.

Still, while we’re here, let's check out the sights. The Meizu Pro 7 Plus uses a 10nm MediaTek Helio X30 chipset and Samsung-made memory – LPDDR4 and UFS2.1.

Removing the loudspeaker and then the battery finally clears the way to the secondary AMOLED screen. Things seem pretty well glued down, however. Interestingly, the secondary screen has a slight curve on one side, to fit with the rest of the back.

This setup (while cool) won’t win the Pro 7 a high repairability mark - changing the rear screen will always require removing the main screen first. The excessive glue usage doesn’t help either.

Meizu Pro 7 and Pro 7 Plus get more than 100,000 registrations in the first day

Yesterday Meizu finally announced the Pro 7 and Pro 7 Plus, its latest flagship smartphones, following many weeks of leaks, rumors, and speculation. The devices both come with a second screen on the back, dual rear cameras, and top specs throughout.

The first flash sale for the duo will happen in China on August 5, which is next week. Ahead of that, as usual in China, the company has started taking registrations - you can't participate in a flash sale without registering first. In slightly less than one day, the Meizu Pro 7 and Pro 7 Plus managed to score over 100,000 registrations, meaning a lot of people are anxious to get the opportunity to buy one.

The Pro 7 and Pro 7 Plus certainly break with Meizu's traditional smartphone design, especially through the location of the dual rear cameras and, of course, that secondary display. They aren't the cheapest Meizus ever, that's for sure, but the company is betting that they will be deemed interesting enough to warrant their prices ($430 for the smaller Pro 7, $530 for the Plus version).

Meizu Pro 7 and Pro 7 Plus unveiled: dual Super AMOLED, dual Sony cams, Helio X30

Meizu drew back the curtains to reveal the Pro 7 and Pro 7 Plus. These two use Super AMOLED tech on both the front and the back – yes, the much-rumored rear display is a Samsung-made AMOLED. It can be used to check notifications, control the music player and snap selfies with the main camera.

  

The main camera uses two 12MP Sony IMX386 sensors – one shooting in color and one in black & white. They sit behind bright f/2.0 apertures and combined promise solid low-light performance. Should you want to snap a selfie with the front camera, you’ll get a 16MP image.

  

Now for what separates the Plus and non-Plus models. The Meizu Pro 7 Plus is the first phone to use the Helio X30 – a 10nm chipset with a 10-core processor. The Meizu Pro 7 will come with Helio P25 as standard (a mid-range chipset), though there should be an X30 version as well.

Also, it comes with 4GB of RAM to Plus’ 6GB. Storage is 64GB for the regular model, 128GB for the Plus.

    

As you might have guessed, the Pro 7 Plus will have a bigger screen – 5.7” with QHD resolution. The other one has a smaller 5.2” Super AMOLED with 1080p resolution. Both use a 2” Super AMOLED on the back.

  

Then there’s the battery. The Plus has 3,500mAh capacity with mCharge 4.0 (67% charge in half an hour). The non-Plus model has 3,000mAh in the tank and the older mCharge 3.0 to fill it.

What else? Both phones have a standard 3.5mm audio jack and an dedicated audio processing chip for improved audio quality. The company announced the Meizu Flow headphones, though it’s not clear if they will be included in the retail packages or not.

The Pro 7 duo will run Flyme based on Android 7.0. They will be available on August 5, starting at $430 for the Pro 7 and $530 for the Pro 7 Plus. As usual, buying a Meizu is tricky outside of the company’s zone of influence in Asia.

Meizu Pro 7 Plus has its specs leaked too

Earlier today a new leak from China purportedly showed us a leaflet with the full specs of the upcoming Meizu Pro 7 printed on it. And now it's time for the Pro 7 Plus to receive the exact same treatment, as you can see from the leaked image below.

The two devices will become official at an event tomorrow, so these very well may be official posters prepared by the Chinese company in advance of that. According to the leaked spec sheet, the Meizu Pro 7 Plus will have a 5.7-inch QHD display, and it will be powered by MediaTek's Helio X30 chipset.

On the back will sit a secondary 1.9-inch touchscreen, underneath a dual 12 MP camera setup. The selfie snapper will have 16 MP resolution, and the device will run Android 7.0 Nougat with Meizu's Flyme OS 6 on top. The company's 25W mCharge tech will ensure quick battery top-ups with 5V/5A from the official charger.

The Pro 7 Plus is slated to come with 6GB of RAM, 2 more than its smaller sibling. All the other details about these handsets will be revealed in less than 24 hours.

Meizu Pro 7 appears on TENAA with 10nm Helio X30 chipset

Leak after leak, Meizu Pro 7 is inching closer to its launch on July 26. Several days before the official unveiling, the phone appeared on TENAA with most of the specs revealed.

The phone will be the first with MediaTek's 10 nm process chipset Helio X30. It is also going to be the first Meizu phone with dual cameras, employing two 12 MP IMX386 sensors by Sony.

    

The listing confirms the secondary screen that can duplicate whatever is played on the 5.2” main display, coming with Full HD resolution.

The fingerprint scanner will double as a home button and will be on the front as usual. The camera+screen module on the back is positioned on the left side on the back panel.

    

The volume rocker and the power button are placed on the right side of the Pro 7.

Later an exclusive video appeared, revealing how the secondary screen works. The LCD panel will be touchscreen and will provide info like weather, time and pedometer.

Meizu Pro 7 will cost CNY2,799/$413 for the 6 GB + 64 GB version, while the mightier 8GB + 128 GB combo is CNY3,299/$486. A Pro 7 Plus version is also coming along with prices from CNY3,299 to CNY3,799 or between $486 and $560.
