Infinix Note 2 Unboxing

Samuel Enife - 3:25 PM
the Infinix Note 2, which is an upgrade of the extremely popular Infinix Hot Note, launched in Kenya about 48 hours ago.
We have managed to get a review unit courtesy of Infinix Kenya (Many Thanks!) and without any much further ado here is a quick unboxing walk-through to provide early insights of what is probably the best budget smartphone in Kenya right now.

The Infinix Note 2 comes in a light golden box (regardless of the color of the smartphone). The box has this awesome snake skin-like surface that provides premium appeal even before unboxing the smartphone. This a feature that is often rare on budget devices as smartphone vendors adopt a simple design in order to cut costs.

The Infinix Note 2 is placed right underneath the top cover and hence the smartphone is the first thing that you will see once you unbox the package.

Infinix Note 2: Unboxing

December 10, 2015
You must have now be aware that the Infinix Note 2 is now available in Kenya.
Well, if you are yet to get that memo, the Infinix Note 2, which is an upgrade of the extremely popular Infinix Hot Note, launched in Kenya about 48 hours ago.
We have managed to get a review unit courtesy of Infinix Kenya (Many Thanks!) and without any much further ado here is a quick unboxing walk-through to provide early insights of what is probably the best budget smartphone in Kenya right now.

Lifting up the false bottom of the box you will find two compartments. One of the compartment holds the AC Charger (White) and the USB cable (White), while the other holds the User Guide AKA that small booklet that nobody reads.

The Infinix Note 2 comes with a non-removable battery, therefore you will find the battery inside the smartphone once pop out the rear cover.

With that you are done.
The very sad part of this all is that the Infinix Note 2 does not come with a pair of earphones.
For that reason you many have to purchase a pair if you lack any lying around.

Google takes Android One to Africa with the $87 Infinix Hot 2

Samuel Enife - 10:22 PM
Today Google has announced that the Android One program has entered a new continent: Africa. So far, the company's affordable smartphone initiative has been contained to certain Asian markets.
However, with the Infinix Hot 2 handset, Android One will debut in Nigeria, Ghana, Ivory Coast, Kenya, Egypt, and Morocco. These countries have combined populations of 379 million people. Infinix, Google's partner this time around, is apparently "one of the hottest, fastest growing smartphone brands in Africa".

The Infinix Hot 2 comes with a 5-inch 720p touchscreen, an 8 MP rear camera with LED flash, a 2 MP selfie snapper, a 1.3 GHz quad-core MediaTek processor, 16GB of storage, dual-SIM support, an FM radio, and a 2,200 mAh battery. There's a version with 1GB of RAM, and this is offered in black, white, red, or blue, and another with 2GB of RAM, which is only out in gold.
The smartphone runs Android 5.1.1 Lollipop from the get-go, and it's also guaranteed to receive an update to Android 6.0 Marshmallow at some point in the future.
The Hot 2 is available today in Nigeria for NGN 17,500 (with 1GB of RAM) or NGN 19,500 (with 2GB of RAM). These prices currently translate into $87 and $97, respectively (or €79 and €88). The device will make its way to the other African countries mentioned above "over the next few weeks", presumably with similar pricing.

Innjoo One vs Infinix Zero - Device comparison

Samuel Enife - 9:08 PM

The Innjoo One is the latest device from the Dubai-based Chinese OEM Innjoo, while the Infinix Zero is the 2014 flagship device from Infinix mobility. The two smartphones have been compared a lot of time as the Innjoo One 3G HD (Nigerian version) seems to have been made to challenge the fast selling Infinix Zerowhich sold 20,000 units in it's first week of launch.
Below is a run-down of the similarities and differences between the two devices.
  • Display: The Infinix Zero sports a 5-Inch Full HD display as does the Innjoo One with both using the same iPS LCD display, pixel density is 293ppi
  • Processor: they both use the same MediaTeK MT6592 SoC with eight ARM Cortex A7 clocked at 1.4GHz and a Mali 450MP GPU
  • Memory: The Innjoo One sports 2GB of RAM/16GB ROM, while the Infinix ZERO comes in two variants one being 8/1 and 16/2GB ROM/RAM
  • Dimension: The Innjoo One measures 142.7x70.2x6.9mm, and the Infinix Zero is 140x70x7.9m. The Innjoo One is quite taller and wider than the Infinix Zero, the Innjoo One is impressibly thin at 6.9mm considering the Dragontrail Glass which it uses is 1.1mm thin compared to the Gorilla Glass 3 at 0.7mm which was used in the Infinix Zero
  • Body: Both devices use the glass on metal unibody build although the Infinix Zero uses the more popular Gorilla Glass  3 while the Innjoo One uses the less popular DragonTrail glass, don't let the names deceive you they are both toughened alkali aluminosilicate glass used to protect smartphones displays.
  • Platform: They both run on Android 4.4.2 KitKat OS although Innjoo One is skinned with the custom InnOS
  • Network: they both support 2G GSM: 850 / 900 / 1800 / 1900MHz and 3G WCDMA: 850 / 2100MHz
Now we go to the main differences between them battery and camera quality.
Battery: The Infinix Zero uses a 1,920mAh Li-Ion battery which is quite disgraceful for the manner of specs it carries while the Innjoo One sports a 2,600mAh Li-Po battery which is more appreciatable considering a battery less than 2,000mAh on an octa-core device would be a disgrace.

Camera: they both sport 13MP back camera, while the Infinix Zero uses the Sony Exmor RS sensor found on the Xperia Z1 we are yet to know what sensor is found on the Innjoo One they both sport BSi and LED Flash although they lack OIS(which is not expected considering price range) and AIS, they are both Autofocus enabled and shoot HDR mode. The front camera is where the main difference is as the Infinix Zero sports a 2MP front camera which is not too good but not too bad either for selfies, on the other hand the Innjoo One sports a 5MP front camera which is going to be great for selfies although more megapixel doesn't necessary mean better pictures.
PRICE: The Innjoo One cost N27,777 at launch the Infinix Zero cost N20,900 for 8GB variant and 23,900 for 16GB variant all in Nigerian Naira

VERDICT: while the Infinix Zero and and Innjoo One are both great mid-rangers in their own right your choice depends on many aspects, in a situation where one needs a premium looking device with high mid-range specs on a low price the Infinix Zero is your baby, but even if you want to put more bucks buying the Innjoo One isn't advisable as the Innjoo One sim 2 Nano sim slot is also a MicroSD slot which means you have to sacrifice your second sim to put in a MicroSD card.

We hope this post helps. drop questions or enquiries in the comment box.
