Meizu sold 2 Million smartphones in March from 1.5 Million in January

hinese tech company Meizu has excitedly announced reaching 2 million sales of smartphones last month, March 2015. The recent success of the Meizu MX4 producer is headlined by an affordable price plus big specs combo, a tactic helping many other Asian phone makers like Xiaomi drive massive sales.

Up from 1.5 million smartphones sold in January this, Meizu will be more than happy if the company reached 20 million sales by the end of this year, Li Nan, VP of Marketing and Sales at Meizu announced on China’s Twitter wannabe, Weibo.
Last year, Meizu signed an agreement with Canonical (the guys behind the Ubuntu on smartphones project) to produce handsets running on Ubuntu Edge that will go on sale this year. The company is also working on an MX Supreme smartphone which reports say will feature a Nokia PureView camera.

Meizu might be unveiling out the first Ubuntu-running smartphone on 27th January

China’s Meizu who is saddled with the job of bringing the first Ubuntu smartphone to life by the end of this Quarter seems to have three undisclosed products rolled up its sleeves in anticipation of a launch event on 27th January 2015.

When reached out for comment, a Meizu representative declined to speak on the issue saying the company will announce its schedule when the promised Ubuntu-running smartphone is finally ready.
